The NH 1725 is the same as the TC29, not the TC30. It is the first generation BOOMER. It looks the same, drives the same, just missing a feature or two. I know, I have a 1998 1725 and it is for sale (We bought a NH TN55 because we bought a bigger place). The $13,000 sounds a little high. I have mine priced at $12,500 with a 5' box blade and 300 hours.

I have about 8000' of horse fence to put up in the next 2 years so I thought I would get my own digger. I have seen the Shavers, Danusers, Landprides and Bushhogs on the internet. Does anyone have any recommendations? The posts will be 5" treated with larger in the corners. Our soil in NWArkansas is clayish with small rocks. I have a NH TC29.Thanks in advance.

I welded up a simple set of forks that bolt inside my bucket. Basically, they look like an "H". I had to drill 2 holes in the back of the bucket. I use 1/2" bolts to bolt hold the 2" square tube to the bucket. They won't lift as much as a 3-point set up, but all I wanted them for was to move some limbs close to the burn pile. Even using big washers, there has been a little distortion around the holes. Obviously this may not be a workable solution for you, but it worked great (and was cheap) for what I needed. Good luck.

The dealership told the bank my tractor package (bought from an individual) was worth $14,700 - 1998 NH1725 4wd R4 non-hydro 200hrs, Landpride HD 5' brush cutter, Tuffline 5' box blade and the 7308 loader. Of course, there may be a bit of a difference between what they told the bank and what they would give me. Good luck with the TC40 - I saw one at a show - They look good.

I found a website that has a picture of the Brush-Brute. I've got the RCR2560 and it certainly looks heavy duty. I was mostly concerned with burning up the slip clutch or hurting the tractor. The tractor has 27hp at the PTO (non-hydro) and it did stall out once. I must have hit something when I was backing in to some trees. Thanks for your thoughts.

I recently found myself in the same position. I shopped JD, Kubota and New Holland. For some reason, I really liked the NH but almost bought a JD. However, my wife found a great deal in the local paper and we got a '98 NH1730 (29hp w/200hrs), loader, bushhog and blade. I know deals are out there. Unfortunately, springtime is a bad time to find them. If you are patient and lucky, one may come your way. Everyone I have spoken to recommends staying away from the Longs - "they can be difficult to get parts for and tend to break". I have no experience with them, but trust the local farmers that do. I looked very hard at the Kioti's, but the $1000 wasn't worth it to me. They just don't have the reputation like the others and their controls are a little less user friendly.

I checked my info sheets for this same information. I compared the JD790, Kubota L2500 and TC29. Their specs are: 24" behind 3PH lift point - JD 815lbs, Kubota 1435lbs, NH TC29 1635lbs. FEL lift capacity at full height - JD70 ? (didn't get the brochure), Kubota LB400/LA450S-1 883lbs, NH7308 800 lbs. I don't know if it makes a big difference, but all of these are standard transmission tractors.

Although I didn't buy any of these, I did shop them all and had decided on the JD because of price. However, we got lucky and picked up a 98 NH 1730 (200hrs), 7308, bushhog and blade at a great price. I am very happy.

I have read on this message board that OEM loader and tractor combos bring more at trade-in time. I don't know if this is true, but I have read it several times.

I have a Landpride 5' rotary cutter and it appears to be very well made. I assume the Bushhogs are similar or better. My dealer quoted the RZ and SQ (medium and heavy-duty respectively) for $600 & $700. I have seen a few Howse (sp?) cutters and they do not appear to be as well built, but may be adequate for your needs. I have a Tuff-line box blade and am very happy with it.

All that aside, we bought our NH 1725 used and all of this came with it. I didn't have to shop. I will add one piece of advice I have been told many times, "Always buy the best, you will never be disappointed" i.e. Avoid false economy. I believe this is especially applicable to tools. If it breaks, consider the time you spent fixing it as time lost working with it. Money is replaceable, time is gone forever.

I just went through the same thing. We bought 20 acres, mostly wooded. I shopped all three colors (green, orange and blue). I had made my mind up to buy a JD790 because of price, $10,995 tractor only and $15,995 package (loader, cutter, box blade and trailer). I wanted to deal with the New Holland dealer, but their Boomers were a bit more (~$800). The local Kubota dealer is a bit of a shyster.

However, my wife found a 1998 1725 Boomer with everything but the trailer in the paper for a song and we couldn't pass it up. I guess what I am saying is that all brands are equally good. I hear Hydro is great - I've never driven one. I didn't plan on spending the extra money and I don't want to know what I'm missing. I think the best advice I got from this forum is to "Find a good deal from a great dealer."

We just bought a 98 NH1725 (201 hours), 7308 loader, landpride 5' bushhog, and box blade from a private individual for $10,250. The dealer told the guy that it was worth $13,000, but wouldn't give him that for it. I guess he needs cash more than he needs a tractor. The tractor is non-hydro and does not have a differential lock.

Comments please: $16,500 1997 1630D Hydro(1.5 hours), 2308 Loader with 68"HD bucket, Bushhog SQ600 (5'), King Kutter 5' box blade, R-4 tires with fluid, Boomer Mania financing, and full warranty. This is all pre-haggle. He said that "we" could get "them" to take another $500 off and that he will install the deluxe 3PH arms. This tells me there is more to be had.

Our southwest Missouri dealer puts the 790 in a package deal. You get the tractor, loader, 5' medium duty JD bushhog and heavy duty 16' tandem axle trailer for $15695. Breaking this down, 790=$10995, model 70 loader=2900, bushhog= ~$600 and trailer=1200. If you visit www.deere.com you can find information on the 90-series tractors (790 & 990). I believe they show an MSRP of $10995. Good luck with your purchase. Besides the JD, we are considering New Holland's BOOMER line. I think it will depend upon the dealer in the end.

I received a quotation from a dealer today for a TC25D ($13,900) and the 7308 Loader with 60" bucket ($3,250). This is without the supersteer, but is 4wd and hydro. I phoned them back and told them to sharpen their pencil. We will see what happens. I am waiting for a quotation from Ritchie (www.tractors4u.com) before I buy. Good luck.
